Pantry 2.0 features an improved community area, a new donation desk, and a re-designed layout to improve our client experience and increase the efficiency of the Food Pantry.

Beginning with the new school year we welcomed new members into our team. We have grown our team into the largest it has ever been with 100 members!

This month, we have used our largest team yet to accomplish new goals such as improving the pantry, improving our client experience, and adding new ways to improve our outreach with the OU community.

From September 2nd to October 4th we are competing with the University of Texas’ Food Pantry, the UT Outpost, in our annual Red River Food Fight! The competition is a contest between the two Food Pantries to see who can generate the largest number of non-perishable food items by weight.

As of September 17th, the current weight total for each pantry is:

University of Oklahoma Food Pantry: 3,541 lbs.

University of Texas Outpost: 1,289.65 lbs.

We have won the past two years and we are looking to win again this year which is why we would greatly appreciate any donations! Any physical donations can be brought to the OU Food Pantry during our hours of operation, or, items can be purchased through our amazon wishlist.

We are accepting donations until Saturday, October 4th as seen below on the flyer so if you want to donate please do so before that date! The winner of the competition will be announced the day of the Red River Rivalry football game between OU and UT on October 11th, 2025.

The OU Food Pantry participated in Hunger Action Month with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. We completed various activities such as wearing orange, educating people on food insecurity to spread awareness about hunger in our community.

On September 5th, we partnered with the Career Center at OU host our annual Career Closet event where we served 641 clients! We offered a select number of donated professional clothing to the OU Community to assist people with interviews and the Career Fair.

On September 16th, our Health and Advocacy team hosted a voter registration drive where 178 people were registered to vote Oklahoma.

On September 22 we hosted the Pantry Empowerment Project where our Health and Advocacy team offered professional headshots and resume help to our clients in collaboration with the OU Career Center.

Our annual pickleball tournament is this Friday, October 3rd from 6:00PM - 10:00PM! The tournament will be at the Timberdell Pickleball courts and will be a great experience for OU students and their families as well as one of our largest fundraisers of the year.

On Thursday, October 16th, from 5:00PM - 7:00PM, we will be hosting a pumpkin painting event at the Food Pantry. Anyone is welcome to come and we will be providing pumpkins and decorating the Food Pantry to get everyone in the spirit of halloween! This will be a fun activity to engage with the OU community and we hope to have lots of people there to experience the Food Pantry and paint some pumpkins!
